Ryandan is the Operatic debut album for Canadian twins Ryan and Dan Kowarski, and what a debut it is. While it’s hard to distinguish which twin is which, due to their striking similarities in both looks and sound, one thing does stand out and that’s their angelic harmonies.
There’s no surprise that these guys can sing. Their father is an opera singer, which you’ve got to believe must have, in some way, helped them perfect their poise and singing ability.
What does come as a surprise is that they have had no formal vocal training. You wouldn’t believe it with their faultless harmonies. But then, they have been singing all their lives. They also hit the charts at 16 as part of the Canadian pop group B4-4, which brought them multi-platinum record sales in both Germany and the United States.

The emergence of the classical pop album is a clever concept, and Ryandan are following in the footsteps of Josh Groban and Il Divo, with their catchy melodies, beautiful voices and a 62-piece orchestra.
Produced by Steve Anderson (Kylie Minogue’s long-term collaborator) and recorded in London, tracks not to miss are their first single, “Like The Sun” and their co-written, “Tears Of Angel.”
Tracks you’ll want to miss are “The Prayer”, and “Wind Beneath My Wings”. “The Prayer” has been done countless times, and in honesty, their version brings nothing new to the song.
The same can be said for “Wind Beneath My Wings” which falls flat on its face compared to the divine Ms M’s version.
Despite a couple of tracks failing to inspire, this is still a beautifully arranged album with enchanting music, sound lyrics, and some of the best harmonies I have ever had.
The best way to listen to this album is to find a dark room, sit on your comfiest chair, and close your eyes.
I give this 5/5
