Is it any surprise to
Powerman 5000 fans that the talented lead singer of this band, Spider One, is related to Rob Zombie. If you listen closely to the grunt in Spider’s voice, the eerie alikeness of both Zombie and Spider’s vocals are obvious.

It’s one of the reasons I bought this album in the first place. I had heard Zombie’s brother, Spider, had his own band and wanted to see if he, and his band, were as talented as his brother.
And the answer? Definitely, and by no means should you compare the talents of Zombie to Powerman 5000, because while there are some similarities to each singer, that is where it ends.

While you will recognise electronic samples in Powerman 5000’s music, and the assault of drums, and heavy beats, Spider also knows how to work with a melody and go with the flow. Something, some may believe his brother falters at.
While Zombie is more horror and freak shows, Powerman 5000 are more science-fiction and fun houses. They also fuel their influences of
Blondie, The Cars, and Helmet into their music.
Their cover of
The Car’s Good Times Roll, is probably one of the best tracks on the album and done in their own style without going too far away from the original.

This is a new style for PM5K, whose album before this was more heavy riffs, and rap style singing, but whatever it is, it definitely works for them.
And of course, the album wouldn’t be complete without the magical touch of Rob Zombie, who graces his presence for the track, they know who you are.

Tracks not to miss: Tonight the Stars Revolt, Supernova Goes Pop, They Know Who You Are, Good Times Roll, and the album closer, Watch The Sky For Me.

For newcomers to industrial metal, then this is definitely one you should have in your collection.

I give it 3/5
