There is something soothing about In Between Dreams. It’s probably an observation that can be made about all Jack Johnson’s albums, and it seems the most fitting.
While the laid-back style of music has not changed from his previous two albums, this time Jack Johnson’s instincts have shaped his melodies more, and taught him how to self-edit. Johnson has this ability to write and make music that gives chills, and this album does just that.
The music is as per usual haunting, and makes you feel slightly nostalgic, especially on the French sung, belle, and sitting, waiting, wishing, which to me is one of the top tracks on this CD.
One of the things that I do love about this album is that the songs tend to blend into each other, and at times it is hard to find where one song ends and another begins.
Another is that, while the album is rather nostalgic, Johnson sings in such an upbeat way, that you just can’t help but smile and let the album lighten your mood.
While it is my belief, on and on, is the perfect album for a cold, wet, winter’s day, in your dreams, is the perfect music to listen to driving with your windows down on a scorching summers day.
If you’re looking for an album to completely relax you, and forget all your troubles then Jack Johnson is definitely your man.
His voice has this soothing effect, that peels away all your troubles, and lulls one into a sense of comfort.
Tracks not to miss: 'Banana Pancakes', 'Sitting Watching Waiting', Belle, and 'Good People'.
I give this album 4/5
