Like the first Bridget Jones soundtrack, this soundtrack is an eccletic mix of old and new, with the likes of modern artists such as Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, and Beyonce mixed with the likes of 10CC, Minnie Riperton, Carly Simon and Sting.

More melancholy than the last CD, it is still a music lover’s delight. Produced by Nick Angel, there are is quite a mixture of covers on this album.
These include the rather horrible version of Sade’s “Your love is King” by Will Young. Others include the melodramatic, but emotionally stark cover by Mary J Blige of Elton John’s, “Sorry seems to be the hardest word”, and the emotionally upbeat “Everlasting love” by recent comer Jamie Cullum.

Each song seems to have be selected to fit the very mood of the movie, and does it perfectly. While the movie is still funny, it does have a more melancholy, and somber mood to it than the first one, so the same feeling applies well to the soundtrack.
Throwing in some 70’s songs, such as “I’m not in love” by 10cc, and Carly Simon’s “Nobody does it better” really suits the theme of Bridget Jones, and seems the perfect type of music Bridget, herself, would listen to when she was down in dumps.
Favourite songs: Mary Blige’s brilliant version of “Sorry seems to be the hardest word”, Rufus Wainwright’s cover of “I eat dinner”, Jamie Cullum’s “Everlasting love”, Joss Stone’s “super duper love”, 10cc’s melancholy, “I’m not in love” and The darkness’ “I believe in a thing called love”
